Bridgewater College opened play in the BC Invitational Friday with a 3-1 victory over Southern Virginia at Nininger Hall.

The Eagles won the 25-23, 25-12, 16-25, 25-19.

Bridgewater spread the hitting load with five players - Katie Baker, Erika Dirnagl, Candice Guy, Mandy Hill and Brittney Wittmer - finishing the night with nine kills.

Tricia Davis finished with 31 assists while Baker, Dirnagl and Hill added three blocks each. Kara Hayslip led the team in digs with 12.
