BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Virginia Wesleyan scored a
pair of goals in the second half Saturday to pull away for a 3-0
victory over Bridgewater College in ODAC men's soccer action.
Virginia Wesleyan scored in the third minute of play on a goal
by Shawn Edwards for a quick 1--0 lead.
The Eagles defense held the Marlins at bay for the next 47
minutes, but a goal by Brandon Massie on a penalty kick gave
Virginia Wesleyan a 2-0 lead. Adam Stringer tallied the final goal
for the Marlins to complete the 3-0 victory.
Virginia Wesleyan held an 18-3 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge
in corner kicks.
Bridgewater goalie Zak Kruger finished the game with 10 saves.
Bridgewater is now 1-14 overall and 0-7 in the ODAC. The Marlins
improve to 10-3-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the conference.
