Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Wesley College used a
late first-half run to open up a double-digit lead and the
Wolverines went on to defeat Bridgewater College, 78-66, on the
opening night of the BC/Don Glick Classic.
Two free throws by Dominic Trawick and a layup by Segar Jordan
tied the score at 22-22 with 5:07 left in the first half.
The Wolverines controlled play the rest of the half, going on a
20-5 run to take a 42-27 lead at the break.
The lead remained in double digits until Trawick hit a
three-pointer to make it 51-43 with 12:48 left to play.
Wesley responded to keep a comfortable working margin and then
held off one final run by the Eagles.
Trawick's three-pointer with just under five minutes left cut
the margin to six 63-57. The teams traded buckets with a short
jumper by Jake Johnson keeping the Wesley lead at six, 65-59.
Layups by Wesley's David Langan and Rudy Thomas pushed the
margin back to 10 and the Wolverines held on down the stretch for
the final 78-66 margin of victory.
Trawick led the Eagles, now 1-1, with 30 points and Jake Johnson
added 12. Kevin Johnson paced the Wolverines with 20 while Langan
and Alphonzo Wright each scored 10.
In Saturday's first game, Eastern Mennonite raced past Averett
101-81.
Sunday afternoon, EMU plays Wesley at 2:00 p.m. followed by the
Eagles and Averett.
