Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. - Bridgewater College shot 51
percent from the floor Tuesday night, but the Eagles were no match
for hot-shooting Southern Virginia University as the Knights pulled
away for a 91-65 victory.
The Knights shot 55.8 percent from the floor and a blistering 61
percent from 3-point range against the Eagles.
Bridgewater trailed by just 10 points, 43-33, at the half and
pulled to within eight points when Segar Jordan opened the second
half with a bucket. The Knights then drained three 3-pointers
during a 15-4 run to go up by 19 points, 58-39, with 15:23 left in
the game.
"We were down 16 late in the first half, but our guys off the
bench came in and defended and we got the lead down to 10 at the
half," Bridgewater head coach Don Burgess said. "Southern Virginia
picked up where they left off and kept knocking down the 3-ball in
the second half. Hats off to them, they shot the ball extremely
well."
In the final 20 minutes, the Knights made 7-of-9 from 3-point
range.
Ade Swann led four Southern Virginia players in double figures
with 23 points.
Jake Johnson and Jordan scored 10 each to lead the Eagles.
"About the only bright spot for us was the fact that we did
outrebound them by 10, 34-24," Burgess said. Johnson led the Eagles
with nine rebounds.
Bridgewater is now 2-2 on the season.
