by five before a tip-in by W&L's Goetsch made the score 67-64
with four seconds left.

bench, led by freshman Kordero Thompson with eight.
Goetsch led the Generals, now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the ODAC
with 25 points.
The Bridgewater defense dominated play for most of the
first half, allowing the Eagles to open up a double-digit lead.
"The first half, I thought we played exceptionally well,"
Bridgewater head coach Don Burgess said. "Our goal tonight was to
come out and adhere to our defensive principles and do it with
intensity. We did that for the first 20 minutes and it showed that
when we do play that way, we can be a very good basketball team."
The Generals went more than seven minutes without a field goal
during one stretch of the first half and the Eagles took advantage
with a 23-13 lead.
Five quick points by Dominic Trawick put the Eagles on top
18-11 and a layup in traffic by D.J. Billups made it 20-11.
Freshman Kordero Thompson scored BC's next three points, giving the
Eagles a 23-13 lead with 5:11 left in the first half.
A short jumper by W&L guard Jon Guest broke the Generals'
long scoring drought, but baskets by Lyndon Humphries and Segar
Jordan pushed the Eagles advantage to 27-15,
Trawick drained a three-pointer from NBA range to double the
score at 30-15 at the three-minute mark. Jake Johnson and Jordan
followed with inside hoops to push the BC lead to 34-16 with 1:06
left in the half. At the break, the Eagles led 34-19.
The Eagles defense limited the Generals to just 23.8 percent
shooting from the floor, holding W&L to just five field goals
in the first 20 minutes.
At the other end, the Eagles made 60.9 percent of their shots in
the opening half.
"You look at the stat sheet and see 32 turnovers and you know
you are fortunate to leave with a victory," Burgess said. "If we
learn to value the basketball, we can be very good.
"The main thing tonight is we picked up a conference victory on
the road and those are hard to come by. There were a lot of
positives that we can take out of this game. Our defense was
outstanding for much of the game. I thought our shot selection was
pretty good. We shot 56 percent for the game.
"And, we got a lot of solid contributions off the bench,"
Burgess said. "Our freshman - Kordero (Thompson), Lyndon Humphries
and Russell White gave us solid minutes. Kyle Hammond has been sick
with the flu and he went out and gave us 13 good minutes with five
points and five rebounds. Overall, you have to be pleased when
you're 1-0 in conference with a win on the road."
