Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Bridgewater College
Eagles batted Virginia Wesleyan College to a 1-1 tie Saturday night
in ODAC men's soccer action.
The Marlins broke on top early when John Christian headed the
ball into the back of the net at the 7:01 mark to give Virginia
Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles answered at the 14:14 mark when Zach Hosler
(Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central)scored to tie the score at 1-1.
That turned out to be the final goal of the night as the contest
finished tied after two overtime periods.
Virginia Wesleyan peppered the Bridgewater defense with 34 shot
attempts, including six in the second overitme. Bridgewater keeper
Travis Morris (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) came up big with 14
saves on the night. Morris had three saves in the final 10-minute
OT session.
Brigewater also had its opportunites as the Eagles finished the
contest with 18 shots. BC held a 3-1 edge in shots in the first
overtime, but was unable to score the game-winner.
Bridgewater is now 1-1-2 in the ODAC and 2-6-2 overall. Virginia
Wesleyan is 2-1-1 in the ODAC and 4-3-3 overall.
