Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Randolph College rallied
from a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Bridgewater College
Eagles, 3-2 in the second overtime Tuesday at Jopson Field.
The contest was the final game of the season for the Eagles as
they finished the year with a 2-13-2 overall record and a 1-7-2
record in the ODAC. Randolph improved to 9-7-1 overall and 6-3-1 in
the conference.
Bridgewater stunned the WildCats with a pair of first-half
goals.
Kevin
Gorman (Annapolis, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) put the Eagles on
the board at the 29:32 mark. Nick
Rutten (Myersville, Md./Middletown) added a goal at the
38:52 mark to give Bridgewater a 2-0 lead.
The WildCats need just more than 10 minutes in the second half
to even the score. Corey Sindle scored less than three minutes into
the half to put Randolph on the board and Tristan Luxner's goal at
the 55:11 mark tied the contest at 2-2.
Regulation ended with the score tied at 2-2. Bridgewater had the
best opportunity in the first OT when Gorman ripped a shot from 20
yards out. The shot was headed to the upper left corner, but
Randolph keeper Aaron Humphreys made a leaping save as he punched
the ball over the net to preserve the tie.
Randolph scored the game-winning goal with less than four
minutes left to play when Celestin Kabamba found the net from 15
yards out.
Randolph held a 19-11 edge in shots, including a 10-5 margin in
shots on goal. The WildCats also held a slim edge in corner kicks,
8-6. Bridgewater keeper Travis Morris
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made several highlight saves and
finished the contest with seven saves.
