Box Score 2 ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Bridgewater College Eagles dropped a pair of matches Friday at the Seahawks Volleyball Invitational hosted by St. Mary's College.
The Eagles opened the tournament against the host school and lost in three straight games 25-16, 25-23, 25-17.
Katie Long (Floyd, Va./Floyd County) led the Eagles with six kills. Katie Baker (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg), Candice Guy (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) and Mara Hogan (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) added five kills each.
Lindsay Kallam (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) paced the team in assists with 22 and aces with three.
Defensively, Kai-Lynn Stoker (Potomac, Md./Jack Britt) dug 13 balls while Casey O'Leary (Quinton, Va./New Kent) and Hogan each contributed 11 digs. Baker led the Eagles with 3 blocks.
In the second match the Eagles fell to University of District of Columbia in three close games 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.
Long again paced the team in kills with 11 and Cadie Castle (Mineral, Va./Louisa County) followed with seven. Kallam led in assists with 26.
O'Leary led in digs with 17 while Guy added 11 digs and three service aces.
The Eagles return to action Saturday with matches against Salisbury and Davis & Elkins.
