LYNCHBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College gave conference-leading Lynchburg College all it could handle Saturday before the Hornets put the Eagles away 3-1 in ODAC men's soccer play.

The Hornets broke on top with two early goals. Michael Abbonizio scored at the 14:21 mark and Shane Spanninger found the net at the 33:47 mark to give Lynchburg a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles answered the second goal when Shane O'Donnell (Waynesboro, Va./Waynesboro) scored off a throw in from Adam Riner (Gordonsville, Va./Louisa County) at the 36:03 mark.

The score remained 2-1 for almost 40 minutes before the Hornets' Donald Hart III scored off a Spanninger assist to make the score 3-1.

The Hornets held a 25-9 edge in shots and a 12-2 margin in corner kicks. Bridgewater goalkeeper Travis Morris (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) finished the contest with nine saves.

The Eagles are now 2-8-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the ODAC. Lynchburg remained perfect in the ODAC at 6-0 and improved to 9-3 overall
