Box Score ROANOKE, Va. - Bridgewater College lost to Randolph-Macon in three straight games Friday in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC Championships being played at Hollins University. The Yellow Jackets won by scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-21.
"We really battled tonight," Bridgewater head coach Greg Spector said. "The ladies really wanted to win and they went for it. We got beat tonight by a good volleyball team."
Katie Baker led the Eagles at the net with six kills and three blocks. Ashley Scott had a team-high seven kills and Lindsay Kallam dished out 24 assists.
Casey O'Leary dominated the defense with 18 digs, but it was not enough as the Yellow Jackets steady play turned back several strong runs by the Eagles in the second and third sets.
"We had our opportunities, but the more consistent team won tonight," Spector said. "We were up six in the second set, but Randolph-Macon played steady. They've had a consistent lineup all year and it showed when the pressure was on. The same thing happened in the third set. We were up eight points, but they just continued to play steady volleyball."
Bridgewater closed out its season with a 15-18 overall record and the Eagles are already looking forward to next season.
"We have a great group returning as we move forward. We need to take the lessons we learned this year and put them to use as we strive to move the program forward," Spector said.
"We defeated a couple of good volleyall teams this year," added Spector. "In conference we beat a good Roanoke team and we beat a Frostburg team that won 30 matches. That's a heck of a win. It's there, we just have to get to the point where we can do it every night."
