BRIDGEWATER, Va. – In an Old Dominion
Athletic Conference (ODAC) clash, the Bridgewater Eagles
women's tennis team picked up an easy 8-1 victory over the
visiting Quakers of Guilford.
In singles action, Megan Mathias kicked things off for the
Eagles with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number one.
Guilford evened up the singles tally when BC freshman Olivia
Stone fell at number two by a 6-3, 7-5 tally.
After Stone's loss, it was all Bridgewater as the Eagles
cruised to victories at three through six.
Alissa Michael got things rolling for the Eagles at number three
with an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory, before Morgan McGhee turned in a 7-6
(3), 6-2 win at number four.
Ally McConaughy and Amanda Gorby rounded out singles play for
the Eagles with a pair of victories. McConaughy was a 6-1, 7-6 (6)
winner at number five while Gorby turned in a 6-0, 6-0 straight
sets win at number six.
In doubles action, Mathias and Michael rolled to an 8-2 victory
as the Eagles won all three doubles points.
Bridgewater is back in action on Tuesday when the squad travels
to Averett for a 3:00 p.m. showdown with the Cougars.
