Women's Tennis Drops Tight 6-3 Match at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Two singles matches went three sets and a doubles match went to the tiebreak, but it was the Bridgewater Eagles women's tennis team coming up on the short end of the stick in a 6-3 loss at the hands of Elizabethtown College.

Bridgewater took a 2-1 lead after doubles play as the number two and three duos each picked up hard-fought victories.

Morgan McGhee and Olivia Stone were 9-8 (7-4) winners at number two, while Ally McConaughy and Emily Schweitzer won their seventh doubles match in a row with a tight 8-6 victory at number three.

BC's number one tandem of Megan Mathias and Alissa Michael fell in a close 6-3 decision at number one for the Eagles' lone doubles loss.

In singles play, the Eagles fell at number one and two before Michael posted an easy 6-1, 6-1 victory at number three.

Michael's singles win was the lone victory of the day for the Eagles in singles play as the squad dropped the final three matches of the day. The win for Michael was the 37th of her career.

McConaughy turned in a tight three-set loss at number four in the closest of the three defeats.

Bridgewater is back in action on Wednesday when the team hosts Shepherd.
