Box Score 2 CARLISLE, Pa. - The Bridgewater College Eagles
dropped their two matches Saturday to finish with a 2-2 record at
the Dickinson Invitational. The Eagles lost the opener to
Elizabethtown in four games and were swept by York in three
straight in their final encounter.
Elizabethtown won the first game over the Eagles by a tight
25-23 score but the Eagles responded to even the contest, winning
game two by the identical score. E'town took the third game 25-21
and closed out the match with a 32-30 victory in the fourth
game.
Lindsay
Kallam (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) led the Eagles in
assists with 30 and also added 11 digs. Casey O'Leary
(Quinton, Va./NewKent) led the team in digs with 39 and Candice Guy
(Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) added 19. Ashley Scott
(South Riding, Va./Heritage) put down a team-high 15 kills, one
more than Katie
Baker (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg). Scott also added 14
digs.
"Kallam and Scott teamed up for double doubles again and OLeary
had a phenomenal match. But in the end we weren't consistent enough
to beat a veteran squad," Bridgewater head coach Greg Spector
said. "We were down 8-16 in set 4 and fought hard. We never
quit and showed tremendous heart. Ultimately, that will pay big
dividends at the end of the season."
In the final match for BC, York won by scores of 25-16, 25-20,
25-22.
"Our youth reared its head in the final match and we struggled
to get a rhythm," said Spector. " Before long I expect we will be
clicking."
Kallam led the team with 20 assists. Scott finished with 10
kills and O'Leary contributed 19 digs.
