Eagles Lose Tough 1-0 Decision At Averett

Box Score

DANVILLE, Va. - Bridgewater College battled Averett University on even terms for most of the contest Wednesday before falling to the Cougars, 1-0 in non-conference men's soccer action.

The teams battled to a scoreless tie in an evenly played first half. Averett outshot the Eagles 9-6, but a pair of saves by Bridgewater keeper Travis Morris (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) helped keep BC even.

Averett scored the game's only goal at the 65:35 mark when John Thrower found the back of the net for a 1-0 Cougars lead.

Averett held a 19-11 edge in shots and a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks for the game.

Morris continued his solid play in net allowing just the single goal to go along with four saves. In the past three games, Morris and the Eagles's defense has allowed just two goals.

Bridgewater, now 1-5 on the season, opens ODAC play this Saturday when the Eagles host Emory & Henry College.
