Box Score The Bridgewater College Eagles volleyball team opened with
a 25-21 win against the Yellow Jackets of Randolph Macon but
dropped the next three to even their ODAC record to 1-1. BC
is now 6-6 overall, while RMC improves to 9-0.
In the first game, after seeing the score tied at 5-5, the
Eagles opened the lead to 14-7 behind the strong hitting game of
junior Katie
Baker (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg). In that span, Baker had
four kills. RMC closed the gap at 18-17 but BC took advantage
of missed serves by the Yellow Jackets to go ahead 21-19.
Baker, Katie Long
(Floyd, VA/Floyd Co.) and sophomore Cadie Castle
(Mineral, VA/Louisa Co.) closed out the game with kills to give the
Eagles a 25-21 win.
In the second game, the Eagles jumped ahead 13-9, only to have
RMC battle back and go ahead at 16-17. Ashley Scott's
(South Riding, VA/Heritage) two serves gave BC some momentum to
close the gap, 18-19. The Eagles could not get any closer as
RMC went on to win 25-21.
RMC won the third and fourth games in a decisive manner beating
the Eagles 25-9 and 25-13. BC was lead in attacks by Long
with nine, while Baker had eight. Casey O'Leary
(Quinton, VA/New Kent) led the team in digs with 21, while Kallam
had 22 assists on the night.
The Eagles return to action Friday when they host league rival
Washington & Lee at 6:00 p.m. in the Bridgewater College
Invitational.
