Box Score 2 The Eagles volleyball team won one of two games on Saturday on
the second day of the Bridgewater College Invitational.
The first game saw BC take on Frostburg State University.
After dropping the first two games (16-25, 12-25), the Eagles
rallied to win the third game 25-23. FSU then took the fourth
game 6-25. The Eagles were led in kills by Katie Baker
(Strasburg, VA/Strasburg) and Candice Guy
(Fishersville, VA/Wilson Memorial) with 10 each, while Lindsay
Kallam (Virginia Beach, VA/Princess Anne) had 25 assists.
Casey
O'Leary (Quinton, VA/New Kent) led the team in digs with
14.
BC then took on Philadelphia Biblical University in the last
game of the tournament. BC won in three straight, 25-20,
25-12, 25-21. Baker had 11 kills, while Guy had 10 to led the
Eagles attack. Kallam had 21 assists, and Mara Hogan
(Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) had eight digs.
The Eagles are now 7-8 overall.
In the other tournament action Washington & Lee defeated
Philadelphia Biblical in three, 25-7, 25-17, 25-22.
Washington & Lee then captured the Invitational Championship by
defeating Frostburg in five, 21-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18, 15-7.
Named to the all-tournament team were Katie Baker (BC), Casey
O'Leary (BC), Sabrina Winterling (FSU), Kylie Carrington (FSU),
Bailey Walker (W&L), and the tournament MVP, M.A. Boles
(W&L).
Bridgewater returns to action next Saturday when they will host
Hollins University and Goucher.
