HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Bridgewater Eagles men's tennis team made it a perfect 3-0 sweep over Spring Break with a 6-3 victory in the final match of the week against the Elizabethtown Blue Jays.
With the victory, Bridgewater runs its winning streak to five matches in a row, after starting the season 0-3.
Bridgewater fell behind 2-1 after doubles competition, as the tandem of Brad DeWitt and Teddy Callow's 8-2 win at number one was the lone victory for the Eagles in doubles play.
Sophomore Peter Hawkins got things rolling for the Eagles in singles action with a 6-0, 6-3 win at number one, before DeWitt followed with a 6-2, 6-1, triumph at number two.
Callow kept things going on the singles side with a 6-0, 7-5 win, prior to Brent Floyd's hard-fought 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 10-6 win at number four.
Sophomore Matthew Chaulkin rounded out the victories for the Eagles with a tight 6-2, 1-6, 10-6 win in action at number six.
Bridgewater is back in action on Tuesday, March 15 when the team plays host to Randolph-Macon.
