HILTON HEAD, S.C. – After taking a 2-1 lead following doubles action, the Bridgewater Eagles women's tennis team rolled to five wins in singles play to cruise to a 7-2 win over Olivet in the opening game for the squad in Hilton Head, S.C.
The duo of Katie Gordon and Katy Bergey posted an 8-2 win at number one doubles, before the tandem of Brittany Wilson and Olivia Stone rolled to an 8-3 win at number three.
Gordon got things rolling for the Eagles with a tough 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory at number one, before Bergey posted a 6-0, 6-0 straight sets win over Giana Guerra.
At number four singles, Wilson notched a 6-4, 6-4 win before Amanda Gorby notched a 6-4, 6-1 win at number five.
Bridgewater rounded out the victory when Stone rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win at number six singles.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. in the morning against Division II West Liberty State.
