Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – Junior midfielder Colleen Dickson and forward Galen Goodman each scored two goals as the Bridgewater Eagles (9-7) field hockey team scored early and often in an 8-0 non-conference road victory over Hood College.
Bridgewater's eight goals matches its highest scoring output of the season.
Freshman Rachael Loy opened the scoring early in the first half when she took a pass from senior Joan Burleson and beat the Hood keeper to put the Eagles up 1-0 early in the 14th minute.
Dickson added to the Bridgewater advantage in the latter minutes of the first half when she took a Caroline Fletcher pass and found the back of the cage to put the Eagles up 2-0 at the intermission.
Bridgewater owned a 14-0 advantage in first-half shots and a 7-0 edge in corners. The Eagles capitalized on their corner attempts in the first half with both goals coming off of corners.
The Eagles wasted little time in extending their halftime lead. Burleson earned a penalty stroke and the Newport News, Va. native punched the shot past the Blazers (2-13) goalie at the 37:20 mark to push the Bridgewater lead to 3-0.
Five and a half minutes later, the goal scoring barrage began as Bridgewater rolled up three goals in less than three minutes. Goodman opened the scoring with her first tally of the game at the 42:53 mark before Dickson posted her second goal of the contest to push the Eagles advantage to 5-0. Freshman Taylor Prillaman rounded out the three-goal run with a tally with under 25 minutes to play in the contest to build the Bridgewater lead to 6-0.
Goodman netted her second goal of the game at the 64:28 point before freshman Jenna Devilbiss rounded out the scoring with her first career goal in the waning minutes of the game to hand the Eagles an 8-0 victory in their final regular season road contest.
Bridgewater finished the game with a 26-2 advantage in shots and a 19-1 lead in corners.
Goodman's five-shot, two-goal effort paced the way for the Bridgewater offense. Megan Cahill and Anna Kate Smith each registered a shot for the Blazers in the loss.
Freshman Jordan Monck got the nod for the Eagles in the cage and earned her first career win. Monck recorded one save to post a shutout victory.
Hood netminder Liz Decembrino made 10 saves in the loss.
Bridgewater is back in action at home on Wednesday in the regular season finale against Washington and Lee. Start time from Mapp Field is set for 4 p.m.
