Wasps Take Advantage Of Eagles' Slow Start

Box Score

EMORY, Va. - Emory & Henry took advantage of Bridgewater's slow start at the offensive end Tuesday night as the Wasps defeated the Eagles 72-54 in ODAC action.

Bridgewater managed to score just 10 points in the opening 12 minutes, but despite their lack of offensive production, the Eagles trailed by just seven 17-10.

A 3-pointer by Ronnie Thomas cut the lead to four, 17-13, but the Eagles could get no closer.

The lead fluctuated between six and eight points until E&H guard Malcolm Green connected on a jumper to push the margin to 10, 26-16. At the half, the lead was still 10 points, 30-20.

The lead stayed in double digits the rest of the way. The Wasps started the second half with a 6-2 run to lead 36-22 and the Eagles were unable to mount a challenge the remainder of the game.

Matthew Hunter led the Eagles with 15 points while Ronnie Thomas and Tavis Stapleton each scored 13.

Bridgewater, now 7-17, 4-11 in the ODAC, closes out the regular season Saturday afternoon when the Eagles host Roanoke College.
