EMORY, Va. - In a match that officially took 11 days to complete, the Bridgewater Eagles men's tennis team took five of the six singles matches and erased a 2-1 deficit after doubles play to upend Emory & Henry by a 6-3 tally on the road.

With the win, Bridgewater (8-5, 5-1 ODAC) extended its winning streak to four matches.

Emory & Henry (13-6, 6-4 ODAC) took a 2-1 lead on March 31 before weather caused the match to be postponed until Tuesday afternoon.

With a one-match deficit to start the day, Bridgewater wasted little time in taking over the match.

Junior Peter Hawkins rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory in top flight singles action to knot the match up at two matches each, before freshman Brandon Larsen earned a 6-3 victory in the first set of his matchup at number two. Larsen dropped set two by a 6-4 margin before claiming the third-set tiebreak by a 6-1 margin to earn the victory at number two, pushing the Eagles ahead by a match.

Emory & Henry picked up its lone win of the day when senior Brent Floyd dropped his match at number three by a 6-2, 6-3 tally.

Freshman Evan Stack got the Eagles back on track with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win at number four, while fellow freshman Christian Lynn won by an identical 6-1, 6-2 tally at number five.

Sophomore Sam Churchill closed out the match for the Eagles with a solid 6-1, 6-4 triumph at number six to wrap up a 6-3 win for the Eagles.

Bridgewater has a quick turnaround as it returns home to compete with Roanoke on Tuesday afternoon in a conference affair. Action from the BC Tennis Courts is set for 4 p.m.
