Box Score SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The Central (Iowa) Dutch warmed up in the second half Saturday afternoon to defeat Bridgewater College, 67-54, in holiday men's basketball action in Puerto Rico.
The Dutch held a one-point, 26-25, lead at the break as both teams struggled to find the range from the field. Central hit 35.7 percent of its shots in the first 20 minutes while the Eagles connected on just 31.3 percent.
Things got worse for the Eagles in the second half as they made just 26.5 percent of their shots. Central, on the other hand, made 16-of-29 second-half shots (55.2 percent).
For the game, Bridgewater made 19-of-66 shots for a chilly 28.8 percent. That included a 1-for-14 day from 3-point range.
Junior forward Ed Reddick led the Eagles with a double-double as he scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Kyle Welty scored 11 points for Bridgewater and Ronnie Thomas added 10.
Matt Greenfield paced four Central players in double figures with a game-high 17 points. Yaw Sapon Amoah pulled down 13 rebounds to the lead the Dutch to a 52-34 advantage on the glass.
The Eagles, now 5-4, are back in action Sunday against Central Bayamon.
