SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Bridgewater College blanked Sweet Briar, 9-0, Monday afternoon in women's tennis action,
Katie Gordon and Marla O'Bryan took an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles over Sweet Briar's Glory Bowman and Mary Elise Dugan. At No. 2 doubles, Bridgewater's Olivia Stone and Jessie Mitchell held off Sarah Manter and Emma Merrit-Cuneo, 8-4. The No. 3 doubles match was the closest of the day as the Eagles duo of Miranda Donovan and Rita Murphy edged Allie Raifsnider and Rachel Byrd, 9-7.
The Eagles swept the six singles matches in straight sets.
Gordon blanked Manter 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and O'Bryan rolled past Bowman 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Mitchell took a 6-2, 6-1 win over Dugan at No. 3 and Stone stopped Merrit-Cuneo 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 singles spot. Donovan blanked Raifsnider 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 while Jamee Hardison won a close match over Yuliya Rigg 6-3, 7-6 (8-6).
The Eagles are now 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the ODAC. Sweet Briar is 5-10, 2-7 in the ODAC.
