Volleyball Drops Pair at Fall Fever Quad

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Bridgewater Eagles wrapped up their tournament weekend with a 3-2 loss against Neumann College and a 3-1 loss against host Lebanon Valley College. 

In the first match of the day, Neumann secured the win, 25-18, in the first set despite the Eagles matching Neumann for total kills. 

Bridgewater fought back with a tough offense to win the second set, 25-23, and repeated their success with a 25-20 third set win. However Neumann won the fourth set, 25-14, to lead into a match tie breaker. 

The Eagles put up a great effort in the last set, collecting 10 kills overall and one error, but Neumann seized the lead to finish the last set 15-11.

Abby Mills led Bridgewater on offense with 17 kills with Megann Grimes pitching in 13 kills. Chelsea Owensby locked down 30 digs for defense while Courtney Thornburg collected 15 digs of her own and had one service ace for the match alongside Mills and Owensby. Shannon Skellchock recorded 46 assists.

Neumann was led on offense by Kelsey D'Imperio who recorded 13 kills while Sarah Sanderson and Anna Waltz added 12 kills apiece. Waltz led defense with 17 digs. Julia Mulseed chipped in 15 digs and Kat Wolf collected 30 assists.

The final match of the day against host Lebanon Valley College, the teams played a close first set but Lebanon Valley would clinch the win 25-23. 

The Eagles made a second set comeback to win 25-20 but Lebanon Valley secured the third set with 25-19 before ending the match with a fourth set, 25-17, triumph.

Mills led offense once again, recording 16 kills. Megan Lookabaugh chipped in nine of her own. Owensby had 15 digs on defense with Rachel Donaldson adding 10. Skellchock had 30 assists for the match and recorded three service aces.

Greta Weidemoyer led Lebanon Valley with 17 kills while Alli Quirk added 10 kills. Allie Garrett tallied 23 digs for defense with Rachel Maltz chipping in 11 of her own. Kacey Musselman had 34 assists for the match.

Bridgewater is back on the road next weekend when they head to Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Lynchburg College where they will face the host Hornets at noon, followed by Averett University at 2:30 p.m.
