Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team dropped its second straight ODAC match in a 3-0 (23-25, 13-25, 18-25) defeat to Shenandoah on the road Saturday afternoon in the Shingleton Gymnasium.
As a team, the Eagles (7-14, 3-6 ODAC) finished the afternoon with 28 kills, 28 assists and 61 digs.
Junior Abby Mills paced the team in kills with nine, freshman Victoria Wilson posted 19 assists and sophomore Macon Frey registered 16 digs.
The first set was a close game as both teams went back and forth.
At the start of the period, a kill from Mills put the Eagles ahead 8-7. The Eagles were able to tie the score 19-all after sophomore Carleigh Studtmann found an opening in the Hornets (14-9,5-4 ODAC) defense.
The Hornets began to pull away with a 23-19 advantage, but the Eagles got a kill from freshman Danielle McKelvey to pull within one, 23-22.
However, a kill from the Hornets' Blake Parkes gave the team the first set.
In the second set, the Hornets landed 14 kills behind a hitting percentage of .314, while allowing only 13 points and holding the Eagles to a .081 hitting percentage.
Deep in the third set, sophomore Rachel Kinsey blasted a kill to trail the Hornets by one, 18-17.
Nonetheless, the Hornets put together a 7-1 run to close out the match.
The Eagles will look to bounce back in their next match against ODAC opponent Randolph on the road Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
