Bridgewater, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team fell to Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 in conference action Friday evening at Nininger Hall.

As a team, the Eagles (2-8, 0-2 ODAC) recorded 24 kills, 23 assists and 41 digs while the Marlins had (8-4, 1-0 ODAC) had 39 kills, 35 assists and 47 digs.

In the first set, the Marlins took a 5-1 advantage. An attack error from the Marlin's Allison Mackley tied the score, 5-all.

However, the Marlins went on a 7-4 run to take a commanding, 21-14 lead.

The second set went back and forth until back-to-back kills from the Marlin's Tiffany Barrett put the Eagles in a 23-19 hole.

Deep in the third set, an attack error from the Marlins gave the Eagles a 21-19 advantage. Nonetheless, the Eagles committed three straight attack errors of their own to go down 23-21.

The Marlins went on to deliver two straight kills to win the set point and the match.

Sophomore Rachel Kinsey had six kills and sophomore Sarah Temple added five. Sophomore Macon Frey posted 14 digs and freshman Jenna Hamra notched 12 assists.

The Eagles return to action Saturday, Sept. 19 with a doubleheader against Randolph-Macon (1 p.m.) and St. Mary's (Md.) (5 p.m.) as part of a tri-match at Nininger Hall.
