Box Score ST MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team fell victim to a second half Megan Moore goal on the road Saturday, as the Eagles lost 2-1 at St. Mary's (Md.).
Moore collected Grace Reingruber's pass from the left side and ripped it into the corner for the game-winner with 12:24 left to play.
The Eagles had gone into the locker room tied at 1-1, after Taylor Prillaman deflected a cross in front of the cage and fellow senior Alenka Ferrufino finished it off in the 27th minute.
After taking a 2-1 lead, the Seahawks had another chance on a penalty corner but Nina Collins' attempt was blocked. BC goalie Amanda Harper (three saves) also denied Alli Szymanski with under a minute to play.
Bridgewater nearly took a lead into halftime, earning two penalty corners with time expired. St. Mary's goaltender Alyssa Thompson made a good stop on Shannon Strosser, and the Eagles were whistled for a foul on their second attempt- ending the period.
The Eagles earned another penalty corner early in the second half after a Prillaman shot was blocked, but again came away empty.
The Seahawk defense clamped down after taking a 2-1 lead, and prevented the Eagles from recording a shot down the stretch.
St. Mary's had gone ahead in the 11th minute on a penalty stroke that Brady Wolf put away to make it 1-0.
The hosts would ultimately hold a 9-5 shot advantage in a game that was tight throughout.
Bridgewater (1-6) will have a week off before hosting Frostburg State on September 26, at 2 p.m. on Jopson Field.
