STAUNTON, Va. – The Bridgewater College volleyball team recorded a season-high 16 service aces to defeat Mary Baldwin, 3-1 (25-12, 25-18, 24-26, 25-10), and earn its second straight victory on Tuesday evening.

Sophomore Deja Booker and freshman Allison Clark both registered double-digit kills to lead Bridgewater (10-3) on offense. Booker collected 12 kills on a .258 hitting percentage, while Clark posted a team-high in kills (13) and digs (19) to compliment her four service aces.

Sophomore Jenna Hamra also had a double-double after finishing the contest with a match-high 31 assists and 11 digs. Hamra was also lights out from the service line with six aces.

Rookie Taylor McNeely was the third Eagle to post double-figure digs with 18, and she contributed eight assists as well.

Mary Baldwin's Katelyn Rice led all players with 18 kills, and her 15 digs was second-best on the team.

The Eagles' defense held Mary Baldwin (3-6) to no more than 18 points though the first two sets for a 2-0 match lead.

During the third set, Mary Baldwin avoided the sweep by landing 15 kills after combining for only 16 kills in the first two games. MBC opened the third period with a 8-5 advantage following three consecutive BC attack errors.

A kill by Clark and back-to-back errors from Mary Baldwin tied the game at 24-all. However, the Squirrels ended the set with a kill by Rice and a Reilly Kelly service ace.

In the fourth set, the Eagles jumped out to a commanding 11-1 lead, which was highlighted by two straight service aces from Hamra.

Bridgewater finished the fourth frame on a 5-0 run. McNeely set up Clark for a kill, Hamra dialed up a couple more service aces and Mary Baldwin committed two errors in a row to end the match.

The Eagles have a quick turnaround as they host Ferrum College in a non-conference clash tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
