Eagles Finish Fifth on Crowded VSGA Leaderboard

RICHMOND, Va. - The Bridgewater men's golf team continued to battle at the top of a competitive team leaderboard at the VSGA State Intercollegiate, ultimately finishing fifth.

The Eagles started the day seven strokes back of champions Virginia Wesleyan, and ultimately came up eight strokes shy of the overall lead after a second day score of 304 (and two-day total of 600).

Bridgewater finished up one stroke back of fourth place Washington & Lee (599), and within striking distance of CNU (597) and Mary Washington (595) as well.

Senior Ocean Armstrong was BC's top finisher, shooting 73-74=147 to tie for 12th place overall.

Rookie Jason Spaar followed his 77 on Monday with a 75 to tie for 33rd place. Spaar has now shot 77 or better in four straight rounds.

Joining him in 33rd place was senior Luke Hill, who shot 79 after his opening round 73.

Also competing for the Eagles were Jeremy Pannebaker (78-76) and Jake Norby (73-81), who tied for 45th place at 12-over.

Bridgewater was playing its second of three tournaments this month, and will wrap up its fall schedule on Oct. 23-24 at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial in Greensboro, N.C.
