Box Score ASHLAND,VA. - The Bridgewater College Volleyball team was swept by the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets Wednesday evening by a final score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18). Bridgewater now falls to 17-6, 6-3 ODAC, while R-MC is 16-4, 8-0 ODAC.
Deja Booker and Rachel Gaston each had eight kills. Victoria Wilson had 29 assists on the night while Macon Frey racked up 27 digs.
Randolph-Macon jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first set, however Bridgewater went on an 8-3 rally, which included two kills by Booker and a service ace from Jenna Hamra to take an 8-6 lead. The Yellow Jackets put up four straight points to regain the lead at 10-8.
The Eagles scored three of the next four points to even the score at 11 a piece. However, Randolph-Macon scored four straight to make the score 23-16 before finishing with a 25-18 win.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead in the second set and would never trail after that. The Eagles cut a 12-9 the deficit to one at 17-16 before R-MC scored five of the next six points to go up 22-17 and would go onto take the set by a score of 25-20.
The third set was more back-and-fourth and BC came close when they made the score 17-15 on attack errors by the Yellow Jackets. However, R-MC grabbed three straight points to make it 20-15 and didn't look back from there, capitalizing on BC errors.
Bridgewater returns to action on Saturday Oct. 21, when they take on Lynchburg at 1:00 p.m. at home in Nininger Hall.
