LYNCHBURG, Va. - Randolph College defeated Bridgewater College, 5-2, Saturday in an ODAC women's tennis match shortened due to inclement weather.
The WildCats won the first two doubles flights to lead 2-1 after doubles competition.
Bridgewater picked up its point at No. 3 where Stephanie Barton and Whitney Cash defeated Lauren Appel and Samantha Dickerson 8-4.
Randolph's Aubrey Hawn and Keyu Jin downed Whitney Kiser and Nicole Shifflett 8-2 to win at No. 1 doubles and Jenna Sweet and Ashley Schmitz held off Bridgewater's Jamiah Lewis and Shannon Quinn to win at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
Kiser picked up a point at No. 2 singles for the Eagles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Hawn.
The WildCats earned wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to close out the match. Two of the matches went to three sets.
At No. 1 singles Jin edged Lewis 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 to take the win. Jin won the tiebreaker by a 10-6 count.
Schmitz outlasted Barton at No. 4 singles 6-3, 4-6, 1-0. The tiebreaker score was 10-7.
Sweet won a close match at No. 3, defeating Bridgewater's Shifflett 6-2, 7-5.
