SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team ran its ODAC record to 3-0 with a 9-0 victory Monday over Sweet Briar.
The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the conclusion of doubles play.
Rachel Zarin and Rachel Crawford put the Eagles on the board with an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles over Lacey Tucker and Lexi Culley. Nicole Shifflett and Stephanie Barton took the point at No. 2 doubles with an 8-4 win over Anna Colvin and Samantha Yew. Bridgewater's No. 1 doubles team - Jamiah Lewis and Whitney Kiser - completed the sweep by holding off Emily Wandling and AJ Lukanuski, 8-6.
Crawford was first off the court in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tucker at the No. 6 slot. Zarin scored the clinching point, winning at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0 over Culley.
The Eagles also won the remaining matches in straight sets. At No. 1, Lewis turned back Wandling 6-2, 6-2 while Kiser battled past Lukanuski at the No. 2 slot, winning 6-3, 7-5. Shifflett took the point at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Colvin and Barton defeated Yew 6-3, 6-1 to win at No. 4.
