SALEM, Va. -  The Bridgewater College volleyball team defeated Piedmont College 3-0 (25-13,25-21,25-18) to open the Roanoke Maroon Classic in Salem and move to 5-0 on the year.

Rachel Gaston led the Eagles with 12 kills and ten digs. Freshman Lisa O'Grady put together a solid performance with nine kills for a .571 hitting percentage.

Taylor McNeely and Jessica Bissmeyer each had nine digs with McNeely recording two service aces. Setter Grace Hayes assisted on 32 attacks.

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow for day two of the tournament. They will face N.C. Wesleyan at 9:00 a.m. and Greensboro at 3:00 p.m.
