BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team fell to visiting Lynchburg 3-1 on Wednesday night in Nininger Hall.

The Basics

• Bridgewater drops their third ODAC match of the season, moving to 4-3 in the conference and 9-8 overall
• Lynchburg picks up conference win four to move to 4-4 in the ODAC and 8-10 overall
• The Eagles honored seniors Jessica Bissmeyer, Hope Jennings and manager Cassie Jordan prior to the match with a senior night celebration

How It Happened 

• The Eagles controlled set one, grabbing the lead at 7-6 and not allowing more than one Hornet point at a time until 17-10. Bissmeyer ended the first frame with a kill for the 25-20 set win
• Set two was back-and-forth affair with Lynchburg stringing together the final three points to win the set and tie the match
• Lynchburg controlled sets three and four, holding Bridgewater to a negative hitting percentage in the fourth ultimately resulting in the 3-1 win

Match Notes

• Bissmeyer put down a career and match-high 17 kills along with 15 digs
• Grace Williams also recorded a career and match-high 27 digs in the libero jersey
• Grace Hayes had 36 assists, eclipsing the 1,900 career assist mark 
• This was the Hornets first win over the Eagles since the 2017 season
