Box Score SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team picked up their fourth ODAC win of the season over Roanoke on the road Wednesday evening.
After dropping the first set, the Eagles jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the second set behind kills from Ann-Marie Johnson, Ashley Casey, Lauren Nofsinger and Lisa O'Grady. With the offense firing, two back-to-back service aces from Emma Anderson made it a 17-8 advantage for Bridgewater. The Eagles held the lead to take the set on an ace from libero Grace Williams to tie the match.
The Eagles found their rhythm in the third set and separated themselves from the Maroons on a four-point Grace Hayes service to take the score from 6-4 to 9-4. Roanoke crept back in and tied it 19-19. A Madeline Walker service ace and Nofsinger kill were the difference in giving BC 22-19 lead. Despite hitting their lowest percentage of the evening, Bridgewater took the set to go up two sets to one.
Bridgewater controlled the fourth set from start to finish and ended the evening on back-to-back kills from Jessica Bissmeyer to return home with the 3-1 victory.
Williams and O'Grady both posted match-high numbers for the Eagles with Williams recording 17 digs and O'Grady slamming down 10 kills. Johnson controlled the Eagles net contributing to seven total blocks of the Eagles ten. Casey and Bissmeyer both had eight kills. Bissmeyer also added 14 digs while Hayes had 29 assists.
Bridgewater, now 6-7 on the year and 4-1 in the ODAC, will travel to Maryland this weekend to face Hood College and Goucher College on Friday and Saturday.
