BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Ferrum College scored the winning goal midway through the second overtime period Saturday afternoon to hand Bridgewater College a tough 2-1 loss in ODAC men's soccer action.

After a scoreless first half, Ferrum struck first in the second half. The Panthers had a corner kick opportunity and the Eagles cleared the ball out toward midfield. Pedro Fonseca sent a long pass back into the box and Daniel Aguire slotted his shot inside the near post for a 1-0 Ferrum lead in the 65th minute.

The Eagles pulled even in the 74th minute. Alex Martinez possessed the ball on the right side, just outside the box and turned and dribbled to his left. He sent a pass across the top of the box where Ian LaVallee put a solid strike on the ball and was able to bend his shot from the left inside the far post to tie the score at 1-1.

After a scoreless first OT session, Enzo Guercio took a pass from the right side into the middle of the box and headed a shot past the Eagles' keeper to finish off the Panthers 2-1 victory.

Ferrum held a 13-6 advantage in total shots and a slim 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Bridgewater, now 1-3-2 overall and 0-3-2 in the ODAC, returns to action Thursday when the Eagles host Randolph College.
