Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Randolph College scored the game's only goal early in the second half Thursday afternoon as the WildCats edged Bridgewater, 1-0, in ODAC men's soccer action.
After a scoreless first half, the WildCats tallied what proved to be the game-winner just over a minute into the second half. Kyle May sent a long ball ahead and Evan Blow connected on the shot from the left side, just inside the box, giving the visitors the 1-0 lead.
The Eagles had several good scoring chances during the contest, but couldn't put the ball into the back of the net.
With less then 30 seconds left in the first half, Kalefa Boyar left a pass for Luke Stubbs and Stubbs hit a shot from 20 yards out toward the upper corner. Randolph keeper Zach Aylor made a leaping save and punched the ball away to preserve the scoreless tie.
With Randolph leading 1-0, the Eagles just missed the tying goal in the 63rd minute. Following a foul, the Eagles had a free kick from just inside the midfield line. Parker Richard sent a ball into the box and Boyar's header beat the keeper but hit the crossbar and bounced back into the box. Stubbs had a shot at the rebound but his attempt was stopped by Aylor.
The Eagles had a 13-11 edge in total shots and put seven shots on goal. Randolph had a slight 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
Bridgewater returns to action Sunday afternoon when the Eagles host the Guilford Quakers.
