WINCHESTER, Va. - Bridgewater took a 2-1 lead after doubles play and then won five of the six singles matches to defeat Shenandoah 7-2 Monday afternoon in ODAC women's tennis action.
With the win, the Eagles remained undefeated, improving their record to 5-0.
Whitney Kiser and Malena Hoover put the Eagles on the board with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles over Madison Hansen and Lilly Kimble. Rachel Crawford and Ali Keister made it 2-0 with an 8-2 win over Kelly Hudak and Madison Rogers at No. 2 doubles.
Shenandoah salvaged a point at No. 3 doubles where Madison Hollman and Caitlin Bennett edged Bridgewater's Kaci Pitsenbarger and Alexia Will 8-6.
Kiser was first off the court in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hansen at the No. 1 singles position. Ryan Roeber added a 6-2, 2-1 decision at No 6 singles when her opponent retired. Keister scored the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Bennett at the No. 5 slot.
Hoover defeated Rogers 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4 singles and Crawford stopped Hudak 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for Bridgewater's final point.
Bridgewater's Emily Daigneault lost a tough match in split sets at No. 2 singles to Shenandoah's Kimble 6-4, 1-6 1-0 (11-9).
The Eagles return to action Wednesday when they host Washington and Lee.
