BUENA VISTA, Va. - Southern Virginia took a 2-0 halftime lead Thursday evening and held off Bridgewater College for a 3-1 win in non-conference men's soccer action.

Tom Chamberlain put the Knights ahead with a goal in the 26th minute and 13 minutes later Ammon Lewis found the back of the net for a 2-0 Southern Virginia lead.

Bridgewater got back into contention early in the second half when Matthew Shelor's unassisted goal in the 56th minute pulled the Eagles to within one, 2-1.

The Knights added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute to close out the 3-1 SVU victory.

Bridgewater held a 14-10 edge in total shots while the Knights had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Eagles, now 1-6-2, close out the regular season on Sunday when they travel to Hampden-Sydney College.
