Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. - The fifth-seeded Bridgewater College volleyball team fell in the ODAC Semifinals to the top ranked Washington & Lee Generals to close out the 2021 spring campaign.
The Eagles struggled in set one with offensive production, hitting in the negatives. Lisa O'Grady was able to put away three kills in the frame but could not lift the team to a set win.
Down 14-4, Bridgewater was able to roll off four straight points with kills from Sarah Kerns and Grace Hayes to make it 14-8. The Eagles could not continue to momentum from the burst and fell behind two sets to none, but were able to raise their hitting percentage to a .061.
Bridgewater came out to a 4-1 lead in set three and played point-for-point with the Generals. Washington & Lee was able to pull away at 14-all to score the next six points and go up 20-14. A Sienna Sullivan kill and Ashley Casey ace broke the streak to put the Eagles within four at 20-16.
Now at 23-17, Hope Jennings put down two back-to-back kills to make it 23-19. Bridgewater battled tough but could not erase the deficit and fell 3-0.
Jennings led the Eagles with five kills followed by Casey and Siena Naotala with four each. Jennings also had a team-high 16 digs with Jyailah Friendly recording 12. Hayes had 20 assists.
The Eagles finish the season with a 8-5 record and a trip to the ODAC Semifinals for the fifth time under Coach Erin Harris.
