BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Bridgewater College field hockey team defeated host Southern Virginia 10-0 on Friday night on Buena Vista.

The Eagles opened the first quarter with goals from Caroline Quigley, Meghan Bailey and Emily Tyler. Tyler added her second goal of the evening thanks to an assist by Allison Thompson and topped it off with two more to open the second half and make it 6-0. 

Meredyth Rankin added to the tally with an unassisted goal to start the fourth followed by another Quigley strike. Emily Rice scored the first two goals of her career with the exclamation point of the evening for the 10-0 win. 

Claire Ashley, Thompson, Quigley and Bekah Mercer all assisted on goals. Bridgewater took 30 shots compared to the Knights zero. 

The Eagles move to 3-3 on the year. They return to action on Thursday, September 23 when they visit Sweet Briar.
