BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Bridgewater College volleyball team picked up its seventh conference win in as many games with a 3-1 win against Lynchburg in Nininger Hall on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bridgewater jumped ahead 4-2 off a kill from Lauren Nofsinger and the lead went to 5-2 after an attack error from the visitors. The Eagles maintained the advantage as the scored jumped out to 11-4 via a Gabby Atwell kill and BC eventually worked the lead up to 18-11. The Hornets made the set close pulling within two points, but the Eagles held on for a 25-21 set win.
- BC raced out again to an early advantage before a rally from Lynchburg set the score at 12-10 in favor of the Eagles. LYN pushed forward and got its first lead of the match at 14-13 but the Eagles eventually went ahead 21-18 after a kill from Lisa O'Grady. The home side held on for a 25-20 win to go ahead 2-0 in the match.
- Both sides stuck around in the third set as neither team could gain a clear advantage. Lynchburg pushed ahead to a four-point lead at 14-10 after a kill from Abbi Leeper. The home side stuck around and kept the set close, but the Hornets grabbed the set, 25-22.Â
- The Eagles quickly scored the first five points of the final set capped by a solo block from Nofsinger before the Hornets rallied for the next five to tie the set. BC edged the lead out to a 12-9 advantage. Each team went back and forth and the set was tied several times. Eventually, The Eagles claimed five straight points to go ahead 21-16 and held on to the lead through the end with a 25-18 win to take the match 3-1.
MATCH STATS
- Faith DePew led the Eagles with 11 kills on a .556 hitting percentage to go with 11 digs to complete another kill/dig double-double.
- O'Grady and Atwell both finished with 10 kills, while Nofsinger tallied eight kills to go with four solo blocks.
- Grace Hayes recorded her third-straight match with over 40 assists as she registered 42 helpers. She also registered 12 digs and three kills in the win.
- Sophia Stites and Emma Anderson each finished with 10 digs.
- Additionally, Ashley Casey ended the night with six kills and four digs.
