Women's Tennis Upended by Lynchburg

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis fell to Lynchburg 9-0 on Sunday in ODAC action. 

The Hornets opened by taking all three of the doubles points.

Sophomore Malena Hoover and freshman Grace Knighton teamed up at the top spot but fell 2-8. Junior Emma Nesselrodt and sophomore Ryan Roeber also fell 2-8 at the No. 2. 

In singles action Knighton provided a bright spot at No. 5. The freshman lost a tight first set 5-7 and fought back from two breaks down in the second set but ultimately lost 3-6.

At the No. 2 spot senior Emily Daigneault fell 1-6, 3-6 despite a charge in the second set.

Junior Kaci Pitsenbarger also stormed back in her second set but dropped the match 0-6, 4-6 at the No. 6 spot.

The Eagles fall to 8-6 overall and 3-5 in ODAC play with two matches remaining.

They will be back in action on Thursday, April 13 to host Shenandoah on Senior Day. Action is set for 3 p.m.
