Women's Tennis Season Ends in ODAC Quarterfinals

Box Score

SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis season came to a close with a 5-0 loss to Sweet Briar on Wednesday in the ODAC quarterfinals.

The Vixens opened up by taking all three of the doubles points. The bright spot came at the bottom as sophomore Ryan Roeber and senior Emily Daigneault stayed on serve for the entirety of the set but ultimately fell in a tiebreak 8-7(3).

In singles action the Vixens picked up the two matches they needed to clinch the match. The Eagles did provide resistance throughout singles, especially at the No. 5 spot, as Roeber took the opening set 6-2 but was down a break of serve in the second 2-4 before the match was stopped.

Graduate student Rachel Crawford dropped the opening set 1-6 and fell behind in the second set 1-5 but fought off match points to get it to 3-5 before the match was stopped.

The Eagles season draws to a close with the loss. They finish 8-8 in the traditional spring season.
