FAIRFAX, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track & field team finished up The Patriot Games on Saturday.
Highlighting the men's competitors was
Peter Fulton who set a new program record in the weight throw with a best mark of 18.10 meters, which was fifth in the event, but topped the board for Division III throwers. Right behind him was
Michael Smith who posted a mark of 17.33 meters, while Tony Nesselrodt also placed 11th. Fulton and Smith also put in top 10 finishes in the shot put with matching 12.92 meter heaves.
Aaron Moon, who entered the day leading the heptathlon, wrapped up the seven-event series also in the top spot. He won the 60m hurdles in 8.94 second before taking second in the pole vault with a top height of 3.25 meters. Moon took second in the final event of the heptathlon in the 1,000-meter run in 3:03.69. He finished on top with 4514 points to lead the pack, while
Trey Birchett took third with 4057 points. He also claimed victory in the 1,000 meter in 2:58.64.
Kyle Clanton took first place in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 7.02 seconds, which lowered his time of 7.06 seconds in the prelims to qualify him for the final race. Clanton also came back to Bridgewater with a first-place time of 22.78 in the 200-meter dash.
Kaegan Avalos was close behind in the 200m with a time of 23.07 seconds for third place.
In addition to his time in the 200m, Avalos walked away with a win in the 400-meter run with a time of 50. 48 seconds, which was the fastest in the field by nearly half a second.
The Eagles return to the track next weekend on Feb. 3 and 4 at the Camel City Invite at the JDL Fast Track.
