Jaden Alsberry and
Jaiden Polston.

How it Happened
- Bridgewater opened the game with five unanswered as Riley Corcoran completed an old-fashioned three-point play and Abby Freeman followed with a bucket inside. Mary Baldwin closed in to tie the game 5-5 before a Corcoran jumper put the Eagles back in front. MBU responded with a three-point bucket to take the lead and used a free throw to extend the lead to 9-7. Back-to-back scores from Corcoran and Jaiden Polston put BC back in front. The Eagles' offense got clicking down the stretch and so did the defense. Bridgewater did not allow a field goal over the final 5:29 of the opening quarter to take a 22-10 advantage after 10 minutes.
- Mary Baldwin opened the second quarter on an 8-4 run before baskets from Freeman and Polston stretched the lead back to double figures. The two sides traded blows basket for basket after the brief MBU run all the way to the intermission as Jaden Alsberry beat the buzzer to give Bridgewater a 37-27 lead at the break.
- BC opened the second half with makes on consecutive trips from Freeman and Alsberry and did not allow a MBU field goal over the opening five minutes of the half. Buckets from Reagan Maynard, Corcoran and Alsberry pushed the BC lead to 45-29 before the Fighting Squirrels made their first shot from the floor in the half. BC allowed just one more Mary Baldwin field goal over the remainder of the quarter and stretched the lead to 55-36 at the break thanks to a three-pointer from My'la Green with under a minute left.
- Alexis Edmonds got the scoring started in the fourth with a score on the Eagles first trip down the floor. A pair of free throws from Polston and a three from Maynard stretched the Eagles lead before Mallory Nolan pushed it even further to 64-36 with 7:25 to play. The Stephanie Flamini designed defense went to work down the stretch and did not allow a field goal for thr first 9:53 of the quarter until the Fighting Squirrels made a layup with s-even seconds left to make it 76-38 at the horn.
Match Notes
- The Jaden and Jaiden show went to town as both Alsberry and Polston tallied double-doubles in the win. This is Alsberry's second double-double against MBU in her career and Polston is the second freshman to record a such game in her debut in the last two seasons.
- Corcoran and Polston led BC with 13 points each while Gianna Gilmore tallied 13 for MBU.
- Bridgewater opened the game 0/7 from beyond the arc but made four of their last six attempts from long range.
- Mary Baldwin was limited offensively in the second half as the home side shot 4/28 from the field in the second half.
