DEMOREST, Ga. -- The Bridgewater College baseball team fell to Rose-Hulman, 8-6, before dropping a 14-2 contest to Piedmont in the Piedmont Spring Break Tournament on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
- The Eagles crossed home plate first after Jeffrey Snider, Brandan Hartman and Collin Reid all drew walks to load the bases and Jonathan Sexton was hit by a pitch to score Snider, 1-0. Lucas Bauer also drew a walk to score Hartman and give the Eagles a 2-0 lead after the first half inning.
- Rose-Hulman took advantage of a pair of walks and a batter hit by a pitch and also plated a pair in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 2-2.The Fightin' Engineers added three more runs in the second inning on a hit and a pair of Bridgewater errors to take a 5-2 lead.Â
- Hartman led off the third with a single and eventually came around to score on another bases-loaded walk and Isaac Sumpter drove in Reid on a two-out infield single to cut the lead down to 5-4. Rose-Hulman struck for two runs in the home side of the frame to retake a three-run lead at 7-4.
- The Eagles loaded the bases again in the fourth and saw Hartman score on an RBI single from Sexton, but BC stranded three runners for the third time in the game and trailed 7-5 after the fourth.Â
- Jarret Biesecker reached on a fielder's choice and stole second base with two outs to start off the fifth inning. He came around to score on an RBI double from Hartman to get the Eagles within one at 7-6.
- The Fightin' Engineers tacked on a run in the eighth to claim an 8-6 win.
GAME STATS
- Hartman went 3-for-3 at the plate and reached base on a walk and after getting hit by a pitch. He scored three times and drove in a run, as well.Â
- Sumpter finished 2-for-3 at the dish and drove in one, while Sexton had one hit but registered three RBI in the loss.
- The Eagles drew 10 walks in their first game of the day but stranded 14 runns on base.
- Jaden Isidro was saddled with the loss after yielding five runs (three earned) in 1.1 innings work. James Swart came in for 5.0 innings of relief and scattered six hits and allowing three runs, but just one of those were earned. Nick Harris shut down Rose-Hulman in the final 1.2 innings facing the minimum amount of batters and striking out a pair.
Game Two:
- The Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Biesecker started off the game with a single. He eventually came around to score on an RBI single by Hartman after taking second on a deep flyout. The lead did not last long as the Lions plated three runs in the home side of the frame, including a two-run homer by Carter Ballstadt, 3-1.
- Piedmont struck for five runs in the second inning on a pair of home runs to jump ahead 8-1 before adding a ninth run in the fourth and going up 13-1 in the fifth. The Lions got one more in the sixth to assume a 14-1 lead.
- The Eagles got a second run in the eighth inning as Luke Tomajczyk led off with a double and he eventually came around to score on a two-out RBI single by Tristan Gordon.Â
GAME STATS
- Biesecker and Hartman each had two hits, while Biesecker scored once and Hartman had one RBI.
- Tomajczyk, Gordon, Lucas Bauer and Camden Herron all had one base hit ni the loss.
- Reid Long was strapped with the loss after going 3.1 innings in the start.

Bridgewater is back on the diamond in the morning with a 10 am first pitch against Piedmont to close out its Spring Break trip.
