MOUNT OLIVE, NC. – The Bridgewater College track and field team closed out day two of muiltis & first chance qualifiers on a high note Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Clanton kicked the day off for Bridgewater, blazing in the 100m prelim for a time of 10.51 seconds qualifying for the finals. In the finals, Clanton finished fourth setting a new personal best with a time of 10.47 seconds.
In the long jump, Clanton secured fifth leaping for a mark of 6.97m (22' 10½").
Trey Birchett wrapped up day two of the Decathlon in eighth, finishing with a total of 5337 points. His day started with the 110m hurdles where he set a new personal best time of 16.80 seconds. Birchett finished the pole vault clearing a height of 3.74m (12' 3¼") for another personal best. In the javelin throw he recorded a mark of 40.63m (133' 3"). Birchett ended his day setting a PR in the 1500m with a time of 5:01.15.
Anthony Matthews finished the triple jump with a mark of 13.56m (44'6").
In the 400m run,
Kaegan Avalos grabbed fifth place recording a time of 48.95 seconds.
On the women's side, the squad of
Jade Buckles,
Adalia Coleman,
Haleigh Hamlin and
Kacee Hooker got things started for Bridgewater in the 4x100m where they finished fourth clocking a time of 48.35 seconds.
Coleman finished the 100m prelims in fourth running for a qualifying time of 11.99 seconds. Hooker posted a time of 12.35 seconds on the day. In the finals, Coleman grabbed second, blazing for a time of 11.83 seconds.
In the 200m run, Hooker notched fifth running for a time of 25.79 seconds. Buckles finished the event with a new personal best time of 26.59 seconds.
