Records: Bridgewater 12-5 (6-3 ODAC); Lynchburg 10-8 (5-4 ODAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bridgewater opened the game on a 7-0 run thanks to buckets from Khalil Ward and Alec Topper along with a three-pointer from Oates. Lynchburg finally got on the board two minutes in before Jordan Cooper drained a triple to extend the lead. A layup and three-pointer brought Lynchburg back to within three before another Cooper three-pointer made it 13-7. Another layup and long ball combo from the Hornets brought them back to within a point, but an Oates old-school three-point play put BC back in front by four.
  • Lynchburg was able to creep back to within one possession at 18-15 before Topper and Oates each drained a jumper to push the lead. Lynchburg hung around and made it a five-point game again before Law drained three three-pointers in 1:15 fuel a 9-2 BC run and put the Eagles in front 33-21 with under four minutes to go in the half. Bridgewater closed the half on a 9-4 run to take a 42-25 advantage to the locker room.
  • Both teams traded scores for the opening five minutes of the second half before five-straight points from the Hornets made it 49-36. Cooper found Topper for a dunk to end the run with a bang before Lynchburg answered immediately with another five-point swing. This time Law answered the call again with another long ball to which Lynchburg quickly had a reply to pull to within 11.
  • After an offensive rebound, Oates found the bucket and Law followed on the next possession with a three-pointer to fuel a 9-2 Bridgewater run where Lynchburg was held scoreless from the field for over three minutes. Lynchburg ended the run before Oates went on a 7-4 scoring spree by himself to make it 70-51 in favor of BC with under six minutes to play. The two sides traded three-pointers before the Eagles outscored the Hornets 13-9 over the final five minutes with scores from four different players.
MATCH NOTES
  • Oates led all scorers with a season-high 26 points on 11/18 from the floor. The game marks Oates' fourth 20-point game of the season and his second in a row.
  • Law tallied 15 points in the victory, all on three-pointers. His five makes from long range is the second time he has done so in a game this season.
  • Lynchburg had 14 different players score, but none in double figures. The Hornets were held to 23.1% from long range while BC shot 40% from beyond the arc.
  • This is the first time BC has picked up a win at Lynchburg under coach Steve Enright and the first since the Hornets were ranked in February of 2019.
