Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Bridgewater College women's tennis team fell to Gordon College 7-2 on Thursday night.
Gordon took a 2-1 advantage after doubles, but the Eagles took a win at the top spot.
Emma Nesselrodt and
Jolexie Whetzel combined for an 8-5 victory to get the Eagles on the board as they fended off a late charge from the Scots lead duo.
There were battles all over the court in singles action.
Ryan Roeber won her first set 6-3 and was locked in a battle destined for a tiebreak. In the second-set tiebreak the senior fell behind and eventually dropped the breaker 6-7 (4) to send the match to a super tiebreak. Roeber fell behind the in the match tiebreak and battled back before falling 7-10.
Nesselrodt fell behind at the top spot after dropping the opening set 1-6. The senior trailed 1-4 in the second set before the tide started to turn. Nesselrodt got a service break and put on a serving clinic to take the second set 7-5 and force a match tiebreak. Once again Nesselrot rode the momentum to take the match 10-7.
BC is back in action on March 7 as the team travels to Hollins at 3:30 p.m.
